This globe stand is an adaptation of a vase designed by Wright in 1929 for Leerdam Fabrique in Germany.  Wright didn't just design buildings.  He felt that the building's furnishings should share the same design philosophy as the structure.  As a result, he often designed furniture and art objects.  The vase upon which this globe stand is based is one such example.
